PE’s G&S Society has been bringing the best of community theatre to P.E. audiences for 85 years and they are celebrating this milestone with yet another dazzling revue, Broadway & Beyond which, coincidently is also their 150th production.

Broadway & Beyond is directed by multiple Showtime Award winner and 2018 Hall of Fame inductee, Rose Cowpar with Vocal Direction by Angela Freer, seen on stage as Princess Snowdrop in last year’s pantomime. The energetic and exciting choreography is by G&S newcomer Sian-Beth Hitchener, who has worked on the last 2 pantomimes as well as Pearson High School’s Footloose.

This year’s cast has G&S favourites such as Bennie Gerber and Khuselo Gqiba alongside fabulous newcomers and previous ensemble members who show that there is no shortage of great talent in the Bay. Our junior ensemble is led by Hannah Nel, Dillon Roberts, Mieka Swanepoel with Georgia-Jo Palmer and Joshua Louw, who played Minnie and Little Jake in last year’s Annie Get Your Gun. In their G&S debut, Candace Juhl, Yelanda Swart and Charlize Visser are set to wow audiences, alongside Candida Merrifield and Tarryn Light who performed their sellout cabaret, A Night at the Theatre last December. Stageworld students Rayvan Zealand and Shauney Loggenberg also feature, showing what a strong foundation they receive from PE’s most established theatre school.

What can audiences expect? Definitely, something to suit every taste. There are numbers from award-winning G&S productions such as Oklahoma, Evita, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, Oliver, Cabaret and Chicago, and that’s just in Act 1! The second act introduces many newer musicals such as Dear Evan Hansen, School of Rock, Hamilton, Billy Elliott, Waitress the Musical and Bonnie & Clyde, alongside classics such as Cats, The Rocky Horror Show and Peter Pan. There are over 30 songs in a jam-packed programme set to keep audiences singing along, tapping their feet and looking forward to some exciting new productions in years to come.
